The LGBTQIA+ chaplaincy of the Diocese of St Asaph has a new home.

It has moved to a new base in Deganwy, All Saints Church.

Taking the helm at the new location is Revd Sarah Hildreth-Osborn, who was welcomed with a special service on June 9.

The service was led by the Venerable Andy Grimwood, Archdeacon of St Asaph.

Reverend Hildreth-Osborn, the LGBTQIA+ chaplain, previously served churches in Llanrwst and is now set to serve in Deganwy, Llandudno Junction and Llanrhos.

Revd Hildreth-Osborn said: "The chaplaincy was launched in 2016 because the Christian faith has something to offer everyone including LGBTQIA+ people.

"We offer a safe, sacred space ensuring that people who are LGBTQIA+ can be who they are, wonderfully created in the image of God and loved just as much as anyone else.

"Our move to Deganwy won’t alter the ethos and purpose of the chaplaincy but we hope more people will be able to join us in our new home."

The chaplaincy, since its launch, has been active in organising special events.

It marked the 50th anniversary of the decriminalisation of homosexuality in 2017 with an event called Coming Out the Shadows.

Another notable celebration was held at St Deiniol’s Church in Hawarden in 2021, honouring the work of the Open Table Network.

The celebration was attended by the Church in Wales’ first lesbian bishop, the Rt Revd Cherry Vann, who also is also the patron of the Open Table Network.

The Open Table Services will commence at Deganwy from Saturday, June 22, starting at 11.30am.

It will be followed by a bring your own lunch, with hot and cold drinks provided.
