Children with a vision impairment are set to have a special day out at the Welsh Mountain Zoo.

Guide Dogs has organised a family event at the zoo in Colwyn Bay on Saturday July 6.

The day offers a welcome opportunity for families to take a break, and meet with similar families, and access a wealth of information and support.

The event commences at 10am at the Wild Centre, with hot and cold refreshments.

The Guide Dogs team will be stationed at the Wild Centre to provide assistance and address any potential concerns about a child's vision impairment.

People will also get to spend some time with a friendly buddy dog.

Places remain limited, meaning booing is essential for the event.

Children with a vision impairment and one parent or guardian can enter for free.

Immediate family members will need to pay £7.50 each.

Kerry Bevan, head of Guide Dogs Cymru, said: "Parents tell us that being with Guide Dogs staff is like having a weight taken off their shoulders.

"It is a joy for them to sit back with other parents, watch their children shriek with excitement and hear them belly laugh."
