CARTREFI Conwy, one of the largest housing associations in North Wales, has aided its tenants in securing more than £2.2million in additional income in the last four years.
Following the news that its Money Support Team raised £729,760 in the 2023-24 year alone, the total sum raised since 2020 reaches £2,216,092.
Phil Davies, who oversees the Money Support Team at Cartrefi Conwy, said: “These figures show how important the work our Money Support Team does, and the impact the team have on improving the outcomes and lives of our tenants.
“They are always on hand, to offer support, and advice with any monetary difficulties they may be facing in the current climate."
Adrian Johnson, deputy chief executive of Cartrefi Conwy, added: "We are hugely proud of our Money Support Team's dedication to supporting our tenants during these challenging times.
“This phenomenal sum reflects our ongoing commitment to combating poverty, empowering our tenants and supporting our communities."
Beyond securing additional income for tenants, the Money Support Team offers assistance including general benefit advice, budgeting tips, debt management, energy bill guidance, and grant searches.
These services are accessible through multiple channels, including telephone consultations, email correspondence, or in-person visits at Cartrefi Conwy's community hubs.
One tenant, who has been supported since February, said: “The support has allowed us to claim Attendance Allowance benefits which we were completely unaware that we were entitled to.
“The difference this extra income will make to our standard of living is immense and has eased a lot of anxieties that we had.”
