The Welsh Mountain Zoo – National Zoo of Wales, will be celebrating Love Your Zoo Week this May half term in association with BIAZA, the professional membership body representing the best zoos and aquariums in the UK and Ireland.
Running from Saturday, May 25, to Sunday, June 2, the Zoo will be testing the knowledge and understanding of budding animal enthusiasts with a host of conservation-themed activities and adventures!
All visitors will be invited to take part in the Champion's Trail, a journey through the grounds and gardens of the Zoo, identifying and recording fascinating facts in the case files provided! Young researchers that fully complete the Champion's Trail can show off their completed activity leaflet at the Zoovenirs Gift Shop for a free prize.
An Animal Champions Base Camp offers animal lovers the opportunity to discover more about the conservation projects the Zoo is involved in, unearthing animal knowledge with Animal Champions Fact Files, and testing skills in fun games!
Pop-Up Conservation Talks will be held during weekdays throughout the week for added insight and first-hand expertise.
Kaitlyn Jenkins, Marketing and Sales Executive of the Welsh Mountain Zoo commented: “It’s great to be able to show our support for BIAZA and their fantastic Love Your Zoo week initiative.
"We’ve got some amazing free events taking place that offer visitors the opportunity to discover amazing facts about our animals.
"We expect lots of visitors during the week, so encourage anyone who’s planning on visiting to book ahead.”
