THE MET Office has issued a yellow weather warning across North Wales today. 

A yellow rain warning has been put in place from 1pm this afternoon (May 16) until 11pm this evening. 

All of North Wales is covered by the warning, as well as parts of mid and south Wales.

The Met Office say up to 60mm of rainfall could fall across the region throughout the afternoon and into this evening.

The Met Office has warned the public what they can expect:

  • There is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses
  • There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
  • Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services
  • Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
  • There is a small chance that some communities will become cut off by flooded roads
  • There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life

The Met Office spokesperson said: "An area of heavy rain is expected to move west across parts of England and then into Wales during today.

"There remains some uncertainty as to how far north or south this band of rain will be, but there is a small chance that it will become slow-moving over parts of the West Midlands and northwest England, as well as into Wales later this afternoon and early evening.

"Should this happen then some places could see 40-60 mm of rain falling in 3-6 hours."
