PLANS have now been lodged to refurbish a seafront hotel in Llandudno after it was snapped up by The Inn Collection Group (ICG).
The St Kilda Hotel, on Llandudno's promenade, which has been closed for two years, was purchased for an undisclosed sum by the operator in 2022.
As well as the St Kilda Hotel, The Inn Collection Group now has three sites in Wales - the Swallow Falls Hotel in Betws-y-Coed and The Bull in Beaumaris.
Revamp plans for the building, which dates back to 1854 and has listed status, have been submitted to planners at Conwy County Borough Council. It is expected that up to 30 full-time jobs will be created.
A covering letter on behalf of the applicant, by Mango Planning & Development Limited, said: "The building was originally constructed as several boarding houses but is now a single hotel building that is currently vacant.
"ICG creates inns where everyone would like to eat, drink, sleep and explore from. Customers are at the heart of everything ICG do, along with investments and training in local staff, environments and the communities around the inns while making sure ICG are the best they can be.
"ICG has recently invested in The Bull's Head Inn in Beaumaris and works are currently taking place following their investment in the refurbishment of Swallow Falls Hotel in Betws-y-Coed. St Kilda Hotel will be the first site they have acquired in Llandudno, they see it as an exciting opportunity for them within the town.

Llandudno's St Kilda and Betws's Swallow Falls Hotel to be revamped
"ICG are not proposing to change the use of the site. The proposed use is already well established by the previous operator at St Kilda Hotel. To ensure that the hotel is upgraded to suit the current expectations of customers and visitors to Llandudno, ICG are proposing a package of works to refurbish the site.
"The development will create up to 30 full-time jobs."
ICG said they will refurbish the hotel "sensitively".
Bedrooms will be reconfigured to form several suites. Customers toilets will be moved downstairs and the kitchen will be extended. The restaurant and bar offering will also be enhanced.
