"BIG, bold and beautiful" musical Hairspray is back on tour - and it's coming to Llandudno.
It stars Strictly Come Dancing’s Joanne Clifton (Shrek the Musical, The Addams Family) as the fierce yet fabulous Velma von Tussle.
Making her directorial debut is Hairspray royalty Brenda Edwards (Hairspray, We Will Rock You) who will bring new energy from behind the scenes.
Hairspray is a vibrant and energetic musical that has captured the hearts of audiences around the world.
It is based on the cult 1988 John Waters film of the same name.
The story is set in 1962 Baltimore, Maryland, and centres around a plucky, plus-sized teenager named Tracy Turnblad.

Her dream is to dance on the Corny Collins Show, a local TV dance program based on the real-life Buddy Deane Show. When Tracy wins a role on the show, she becomes an overnight sensation and uses her new-found fame to advocate for racial integration on the television program, challenging the racial prejudices of the time.
The musical's themes of fighting for justice and embracing diversity, along with its catchy songs and exuberant dances, make it a powerful and uplifting experience.
Some of its most notable songs include Good Morning Baltimore, You Can't Stop the Beat, and Welcome to the '60s.
Hairspray made its Broadway debut in 2002 and won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
The production went on to win four Olivier awards in the West End, multiple awards worldwide, and has enjoyed numerous national tours, international productions.
It still packs a punch with its message of tolerance and the fight against racial discrimination.
The musical was adapted into a 2007 musical film starring Nikki Blonsky, John Travolta, and Zac Efron.
Audiences in North Wales can join big-hearted Tracy Turnblad and her new friends the spirited Seaweed and his sister Little Inez, heartthrob Link Larkin and the resolute Motormouth Maybelle as they strive to change the world.
The fun-filled show, bursting with show-stopping numbers and dizzying dance routines, comes to Llandudno between April 7 - 12 , 2025.
