A HOMELESS charity has been evicted from its home at a church hall in Llandudno after more than nine years at the site – with the charity’s founder vowing to “carry on”.
Hope Restored, a charity that works with homeless people in the town, was founded by Brenda Fogg more than 13 years ago.
Brenda worked tirelessly in growing the charity, and was honoured with a British Empire Medal (BME) from the late Queen Elizabeth II for her services to the community.
Her efforts lead her to be dubbed the 'Angel of Llandudno' by many in the community.
However, the charity recently went nine weeks without electricity at their Lighthouse Church home on the West Shore, which denied them the use of cookers.
Operating as a homeless outlet and a foodbank, Brenda told the Pioneer that they were soon handed an eviction notice because of “electrics”.
She said: “They made out it was about the electrics and that, but we’ve been without electrics for nearly nine weeks now so we didn’t think it was anything to do with that at all.
“We just think they wanted the building back, so just wanted us out of there.

“When the electrician said the building needed doing, the church was done straight away and not the hall so we were without a cooker for nine weeks.
“So many people have offered to pay for the electrics, so I don’t think that was the issue at all.
The homeless side of the charity was given 21 days to leave the premises, with the foodbank afforded an extra seven days.
The charity’s foodbank service sends out more than 400 'Bags of Hope' food parcels each month for those in need, with many local organisations referring their clients to Hope Restored.
Brenda continued: “They evicted me on Saturday.
“It just means I’m going to carry on regardless of where I can find at the moment, so I’m going out to the lads and feeding them as best as I can, giving them what they need.
“I’m hoping to get something going very quickly – we have been offered a couple of places so we’re just seeing which is the best bet.
“If I wanted [a place in] Rhyl or Colwyn Bay I could’ve picked one up last week - Llandudno is like gold dust and the prices of some properties are just so, so high.
"They [those who need the charity] all know the situation, and thankfully we only have two or three out there but we don’t want it to starting looking like Rhyl.
“I’m not going to be defeated by any means - Hope Restored will be back.”
The trustees of the Lighthouse Church were approached for comment.
