A COUPLE have opened their own coffee hatch on the West Shore of Llandudno, saying the move was “now or never”.
Coffi and Vinyl opened on March 12, and sells a range of vinyl recordings and music-themed hot drinks, including The Coldplay Coffee (designated “as boring as the band”).
Others include the Catfish cappuccino (after Llandudno band Catfish and the Bottlemen), the Luther Vandross Latte, and the Eminem Espresso.
The hatch is owned and run by partners Tamsin Jones and Clint Houghton, and the idea was inspired by Tamsin’s own fond childhood memories of the West Shore.
Massive music lovers, the pair met at a gig 12 years ago and decided to blend the two ideas.
Tamsin, who is from Conwy and works as a community engagement officer for Ty Gobaith, told the Pioneer: “I've lived in North Wales all my life, born in Conwy in the town walls.

“We have always loved music and met at a Biffy Clyro gig 12 years ago - I write for music webzines as a hobby and we always travel gigs.
“I have four daughters and wanted a business we can connect with the community.
“Having spent most of my childhood on West Shore with my nan seeing the pitch was up on the front we decided to go for it - we both have had experience in hospitality and we decided it was a now or never opportunity.”
The couple are also using the hatch to encourage beach cleaning is maintained, and offer beach cleaning kits with bucket and grabbers in exchange for a free coffee (as long as they have their own cups).
The hatch has proven popular thus far, popular with walkers on the beautiful stretch of coastline it sits on.
