A FORMER Llandudno social club could be transformed into 12 apartments.
Mr W. Ward of Clwyd Enterprises, Chester, has applied to Conwy County Council, seeking planning permission to demolish the existing West Shore Social Club, on Bryniau Road, Llandudno.
Mr Ward wants to knock down the buildings and outbuildings and erect 12 apartments with a new internal access road. The applicant wants to build with red-brick cladding and a grey slate roof and provide parking.
But some neighbours are unhappy with the plans. Amanda Thewlis, who lives nearby, said: “I personally would not be happy for 12 apartments to go up, especially the over-affordable ones.
“Since the houses went out next to it, there is a constant nuisance from the kids that live there, and the end house nearest the road are always burning plastic. We have kids running over private property and also parts used to be flooded.
“We don't need any more accommodation on this estate, and I'm pretty sure it would affect the prices of existing houses. When we first moved in, Fairways was private and a nice quiet estate to live on, but since then, it has gone down a fair bit, so I object to this.”
The planning application will likely be debated by councillors at a future planning committee meeting at Bodlondeb.
In 2022, the building was put up for sale for a guide price of £300,000.
It was place on the market with estate agent Jones Peckover, who said the property offers an ‘excellent development opportunity’.
Then, the agent said: “Formally comprising the West Shore Social Club, the property is now being offered for sale as a development site subject to local authority approvals.
“The boundaries of the site are clearly shown by reference to the plan attached to the particulars and extend to approximately 1088 sqm, which includes the existing club house and associated buildings that are now redundant.
“The site is considered suitable for a wide range of alternative uses including residential, commercial and leisure, full details of which should be explored with the local planning authority.
“The property occupies a prominent position on the corner of Bryniau Road and Fairways, close to the West Shore, Llandudno.
“A range of local amenities are situated close by including shops, schools and golf courses, with more comprehensive facilities available in Llandudno centre and Deganwy.
“An excellent development opportunity in a prime location.”
