THE late Dave Myers will be shown visiting North Wales in the latest BBC series of The Hairy Bikers Go West tonight.
On Thursday, February 29, the sad news was revealed by co-star Simon “Si” King that Dave, best known as one-half of the Hairy Bikers, had died aged 66.
The two have been cooking together, writing recipes and filming TV shows since their 2004 debut, The Hairy Bikers’ Cookbook.
Si said he “will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime” as he announced Myers’ death on social media. Myers had been living with an undisclosed type of cancer for the past couple of years.
The latest episode is described as: "The Bikers continue their journey by heading to north west Wales, a remote but beautiful part of the UK and home to lush, green pastures, towering peaks, breathtaking valleys and 250 miles of stunning coastline. But alongside this epic scenery, the Bikers discover there’s a host of inspiring local producers that are doing their bit to celebrate this area’s rich diversity."
The BBC Two series will show the celebrity chefs meeting Maggie, a Nigerian kitchen goddess, in Penygroes - one of the most predominantly Welsh-speaking areas of the country. The bikers also meet Steff, owner of Poblado Coffi.
Steff’s imports his coffee beans, sourcing only from sustainable farms where the workers are paid fairly.
Si goes alone to an 80-acre farm near the coast that has embraced "bold ideas". Sadly Dave wasn't feeling up to it after recent chemo treatment.
Husband and wife team Matt and Jenny run the 350-year-old Henbant Farm and use a farming method called permaculture, a natural, low-waste method of growing food by replicating the ecosystems found in the wild.
Dave and Si are then seen visiting Porthmadog, home of the oldest surviving railway company in the world.

The duo then head to Blaenau Ffestiniog after been told of a special bakery that creates Kurdish pasties. Nestled in the heart of Snowdonia National Park, Kurmang Rashid has become a cornerstone of the community with his range of breads, cakes and spicy pasties.
Prior to Dave's death, Si said about the programme: "It’s a series that we will always remember, not that we won’t remember others. We are very privileged to do what we do and I think this one was particularly special in general because of Dave’s health and his sheer and utter determination and love for what he does.
"Especially to continue to do it while he was having treatment took remarkable courage and energy - and adds to why Dave and I will not forget it."
The Hairy Bikers Go West will air on BBC Two on Tuesday, March 5 at 7pm.
