A COMMUNITY group striving to make Colwyn Bay a better place is to hold its first LGBTQ+ night in the town next week.
Together For Colwyn Bay has organised this event, which will take place from 8pm on Saturday, March 9 at The Station, on Station Road.
Billed as a “fun night for all members of the general community”, the event will not charge an entry fee, nor do you have to book your place in advance.
It will based in the upstairs function room of The Station, with the aim of making this a bi-monthly event.
The theme of next weekend’s event will be to “dress however you desire”.

Jason Price is a member of Together For Colwyn Bay who has led the organising of this event.
He said: “There are obviously LGBTQ+ people living in Colwyn Bay, so it’s just to raise awareness, and give them a safe place to go.
“It’s taken six months to organise this and secure a venue, but hopefully, it’s going to be worth it. 99.9 per cent of the comments we’ve had so far have been positive.
“A member of the public had approached us to ask us if we can put on these sorts of nights. When I stewarded at Colwyn Bay Pride last year, I walked the entire length of the prom all day in three-inch heels.
“By 8pm that night, my feet were killing me!”
A drag artist DJ is set to be performing at next Saturday’s event, while all attendees must be aged 18 or older (those who do not look older than 21 will be asked to show ID).
Organisers have also stressed that any homophobia or racism will not be tolerated, and offenders will be asked to leave
Together For Colwyn Bay is also involved in organising this year’s Pride event for the town, which is due to be celebrated along the promenade on Sunday, May 12; the day after PromXtra.
Jason, who has been involved with the group since stewarding at Colwyn Bay Pride 2023, said that they are “working on similar themes as last year”.
Other projects which Together For Colwyn Bay is involved in include the town’s Repair Café, Toastie Club, and The Big Picnic.
