A ROW has erupted over new parking enforcement signs that have appeared at Cineworld Llandudno warning customers they only have a three hour maximum stay.

The new parking restriction for the Llandudno Junction car park will be in force from next week.

The land is managed by UK Parking Control Ltd.

The signs state: "Three hours maximum stay.

"This car park is on private land.

"Non-compliance with the terms and conditions may result in a parking charge of up to £100 (reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days of being issued in accordance with the Private Parking Code of Practice). All terms and conditions apply to Blue Badge Holders. Hours of enforcement: 24 hours a day, seven days a week."

Following a backlash from customers on social media, Cineworld Llandudno have put out a statement.

This said: "As some of you are already aware we have new parking restriction for the car park that will be taking place from next week. We do realise that the restrictions in place do state that it is a maximum of a three hour stay. However, please don’t worry! We will have a tablet inside of the cinema which you will need to enter your car details into upon your arrival. This will allow you to extend your stay free of charge. We know that many of you love to come for a meal before your film or like to watch as many as you can in one day and the three hours just would not be enough.

"Please remember to enter your car details into the tablet inside of our cinema upon arrival otherwise you will be charged if you exceed the three hours.

"If you have any questions or queries please pop in and ask a member of our leadership team. We are always happy to help."

The new restriction has sparked a strong reaction from customers on social media.

One person said: "If this was situated in the middle of a town centre I would understand it but literally anybody parking in this area is only doing so to use and spend in the facilities around this area. Why limit people's parking, or try to make money out of those who may forget to do this?"

Another customer said: "I wonder how many tablets are available to input reg? I wonder. Because there can be quite a few people in to watch films so if there's not enough, people will either not see the film or not fill out the form."

Another cinemagoer said: "That's it for me, I have enough to worry about without this. I will not be going to the cinema again.

"I think most people see a visit to the cinema as a fun few hours to relax and enjoy a movie and not worry if they have fallen foul of the parking rules, which, let's face it, are there as an addition revenue source."

Another person wrote: "Such a crazy idea. I know you can put your registration number into a tablet, but what are you going to do with huge releases and everyone trying to input their details? No wonder cinemas are struggling."

Another said: "What the heck! Pretty bonkers for a car park at a cinema to have a limited stay time especially for us cinephiles that can't get enough cinema. Great idea about adding number plate into a pad in the cinema, but what a pain in the backside."

Another said: "I don't understand the tantrums I'm reading here. I'm there often, I have no issue with this."
