AN AWARD winning vegan bistro in Rhuddlan is up for two more gongs!

Green Island Bistro on Rhuddlan High Street, owned by Sara Turner, has been nominated for both the 'Best Vegetarian Establishment' and 'Vegan Restaurant of the Year' in the Food Awards Wales 2024.

The awards look to honour the top culinary destinations in Wales.

Sara said: "We are nominated for both Best Vegetarian Establishment and Vegan Restaurant of the Year. Best vegan establishment is a new category which is fantastic to see and it would mean so much for us to win either category, especially as there are only a couple of businesses included from North Wales.

"I started the businesses during Covid. As a vegan, I have always struggled eating out in the local area and my husband has a number of allergies including nuts.

"After opening the bistro, we quickly discovered that there were lots of other people like us that wanted somewhere safe to eat or a place where they could choose anything on the menu."

Sara recently opened Llandudno's first 'plant powered cafe' - Pip & Oat.

"The new business is going really well," Sara said.

"We've had such a positive response from customers with many becoming regulars already.

"Llandudno is a very welcoming town and we had great support from the local businesses as well."
