A MAN from Betws-y-Coed who secretly took explicit photos of a woman has been jailed.
Alwyn Roberts, 57, of Rhes Dolydd, Pentre Du, was sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment at Caernarfon Crown Court today (February 21).
He had previously admitted charges of harassment and voyeurism.

Prosecuting, Thomas McLoughlin told the court that, between July 7 and 10, 2022, Roberts secretly photographed the woman on multiple occasions.
The woman noticed what Roberts was doing, and shouted at him to delete the photos he had taken, to which he replied that he had.
On July 16, 2022, Roberts was arrested, and his mobile phone was seized.
Analysis of mobile phone revealed 61 explicit images of the woman between July 7 and 10, as well as a photograph of his own genitalia on July 10.
In a statement, the woman she said she feels “angry more than anything” about Roberts’ “weird” behaviour, which has left her feeling “anxious and on edge”.
“I’m angry that he thinks he can behave like this, and intimidate me and laugh at me,” she added.
Defending Roberts, who had three previous convictions for seven offences, including for exposure, Alexandra Carrier said he has not re-offended since these incidents.
To send Roberts immediately to prison, she said, would be to the detriment of his mother, who is in ill health, and who he lives with and cares for.
Ms Carrier described Roberts as “hard worker”, with a current full-time job as a production operative.
Sentencing, Recorder Wyn Lloyd-Jones told Roberts: “There can be no doubt whatsoever that you committed these offences for your own selfish sexual gratification.”
Roberts will also adhere to sex offenders register notification requirements indefinitely, and was handed a 10-year restraining order.
