A TRADER to run a concession near to Rhos-on-Sea paddling pool is being sought.
Conwy County Borough Council is seeking applications and offers for a seasonal trading concession to be located on the green adjacent to the paddling pool.
The trading season will commence on March 23 and will end on November 6.
The local authority told the Pioneer: "The authority is seeking applications and offers for a seasonal trading concession to be located on the green adjacent to the Rhos On Sea Paddling Pool. Bids must be submitted by February 14."
A description on RightMove said: "This concession is located in a popular play area which includes a children's paddling pool, slides, swings, zip wire and other play apparatus as well as a good-sized grassed area.
"The concession will have access to the toilets on site as well as an electricity supply (with cost of consumption to be recharged).
"The authority is looking to attract local independent businesses that could include offerings such as: ice creams, hot and cold refreshments, snacks and/or a bouncy castle."
Conwy Council claim that all four paddling pools will be ready for the summer season.
Although an exact date is yet to be given, the council says it has invested in its four paddling pools at Craig y Don, Rhos on Sea, Penmaenmawr and Llanfairfechan.
The council came under heavy criticism last year after it announced in April 2023 that all four paddling pools would not re-open that summer due to a high risk of people slipping.
Conwy claimed that the only UK provider able to install a specialist anti-slip coating around the pool was unavailable to work due to ill health.

MS doesn't agree there is no solution to slippery Conwy paddling pools
This was rubbished by politicians, including Clwyd West MS Darren Millar.
Mr Millar said at the time: "I simply do not accept that there is no solution available in the council and urge the local authority to get its act together and try harder to rectify the problem. I did a quick internet search and it appears that there are a number of firms offering a solution to this issue."
Cllr Aaron Wynne, Conwy’s cabinet member for culture and leisure, said: “I’d like to reassure residents that we’re committed to getting the work completed at all sites for the benefit of those living and visiting our county. Whilst we understand the disappointment caused last year, we are pleased that we have been able to invest to protect the future of all four of our paddling pools and look forward to opening them for the summer season 2024.”
All bids for the concession must be submitted on the application form and returned electronically to Lydia Johnson by February 14.
