The Welsh Mountain Zoo was also closed to visitors.

The Met Office issued Amber Warnings for wind across the UK from Sunday evening into Monday. This was in force from 6pm on Sunday evening until 6am this morning.

Driving conditions were poor across parts of North Wales with lots of surface water on the roads, in particular on the A5 and A470 between Betws-y-Coed and Dolwyddelan.

The A5 was forced to close between Capel Curig and Pentrefoelas due to "severe flooding".

Conwy County Borough Council have issued an update on what roads have re-opened this morning.

These include: Conwy Terrace, Llanrwst; B5106 Trefriw to Dolgarrog.

Roads passable with care include A470, Conwy county and the A5, Conwy county.

A flood warning was issued for the River Conwy at Gwydir Road. This was last updated by Natural Resource Wales at 11.08pm on January 21.

A statement said: "Gwydir Road between Llanrwst and Trefriw is impassable. The rainfall is forecast to ease within the next two hours and conditions are expected to improve after that time. River levels are at their peak. There is a significant risk of localised flooding problems from surface water."

Today, a Yellow Weather Warning for Wind is in place until 12pm.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "Another windy day to come with coastal gales at times. Brighter than yesterday with sunny spells but also occasional blustery showers, these heavy at times.

"Feeling chillier than yesterday although temperatures around average for January. Maximum temperature 10 °C."
