A MET Office yellow warning for thunderstorms has been issued for parts of North Wales.
This warning is in place from 5pm today (January 1) until 9pm tomorrow.
The Met Office says heavy rain falling on saturated ground is likely to cause some travel disruption.
Conwy, Denbighshire and Gwynedd are among the regions likely to be affected.
The Met Office’s warning added: “Following recent wet weather, further spells of rain, heavy in places are expected on Monday evening and overnight.
“On Tuesday, the focus for the heaviest rain is less clear-cut but perhaps more likely across parts of Wales, the Midlands towards eastern England and Yorkshire.
“Over the warning period, 15-30mm of rain is likely to fall fairly widely, with a few places seeing 35-50mm.
“Check if your property could be at risk of flooding. If so, consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit.
“Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary.
“People cope better with power cuts when they have prepared for them in advance. It’s easy to do; consider gathering torches and batteries, a mobile phone power pack and other essential items. B
“e prepared for weather warnings to change quickly: when a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area.”
What to expect:
- Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer.
- Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer.
- Flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible.
