CLWYD WEST MS Darren Millar has called on the council to develop a strategy in order to keep retailers in Colwyn Bay, after a host of shop closures in recent weeks.
Last week, the Subway and Costcutter on Conway Road abruptly closed, with members of staff at the fast food franchise told of its closure that very morning.
The news followed Poundland and Boots pharmacy announcing they will close their sites in the town in 2024, in what is a worrying trend.
Mr Millar said the spate of closures was "very concerning", and suggested the council develop a strategy to increase footfall in the town centre.

He told the Pioneer: "I am very concerned about this latest shop closure in Colwyn Bay.
"It suggests that there is a need for the council to step in and develop a strategy to the loss of retailers in the town, including relocating more staff to their Coed Pella offices and only allowing home working if absolutely necessary to improve footfall in the town.
"To make matters worse, the Welsh Government's reduction in Business Rate Relief, which is less generous than over the border in England, will add even more pressure on retailers in North Wales.
"I will be challenging the council and Welsh Ministers on these issues."
