A NEW gym and bar complex in Llandudno celebrated its soft opening to the public today (December 9).
LVL 5 Gyms Ltd, owned by Sion Pritchard and Rich Blake, hosted an open day at the former Tudno Castle hotel site at Conway Road.
The new gym is made up of a café and bar space, a sizeable weights and cardio room, a room geared to specific sessions, and changing rooms complete with saunas.
There will also be a wet room for disabled customers, which is due to be completed soon.
LVL 5 proved to be a hit with residents, with the café busy with customers checking the new place out and enjoying drinks.
The business hosted up to 100 guests at a VIP launch yesterday (December 8), with a full access opening tomorrow (December 10).
Sion and Rich said they were “overwhelmed” to have opened the gym, having been working on the project for two and a half years.
“We’ve been on sight 13 weeks, we’ve turned it round really quickly, it’s just been full on,” they told the Pioneer.
“It’s been early mornings, late nights, weekends, and it got to last night and the beers just started flowing.
“It’s an overwhelming feeling that this is actually ours, and having people coming in today and last night for the party, it’s just nice to see people appreciate what we’ve put in.
“It’s all been top secret, yesterday morning we took all the banners off the windows and had people come up to the window and stick their face on it - we’ve crossed that finish line finally.”
LVL 5 employs eight members of staff, which is expected to increase as the business grows.
The owners ambition to bring a “city feel” to the town has been achieved, with the duo aiming to create a community hub, where people can enjoy themselves whether they work out or not.
They added: “It’s been so intense, we haven’t even been able to train yet, we haven’t even tried it.
“That first day off, taking a step back, it will really hit that we’ve created something really incredible.
“Si, Sion’s brother, has done all the building work for us – he’s come up with some really creative stuff that we didn’t even think of and he’s just blown us away with his work ethic and his attention to detail has been second to none.

“Everyone that came last night has been blown away, they looked shocked in a good way.
“We want to try and create here, our own version of being that place you come to chill, to chat, to just engage with other people that want to be healthy and active.”
The business will also branch out with events such as tapas nights, and will offer seminars, workshops, as well as invite fitness professionals and psychotherapists for talks.
