A NEW salon has opened in Colwyn Bay, having been put together in a matter of weeks and having raised more than £500 for charity at its launch event.
“Strands N Hands”, at 135a Abergele Road, marked its first day of business yesterday (November 14).
This followed its successful opening event on Saturday (November 11), which featured canapés, cocktails, music, a raffle, discounts, “meet the team”, and giveaways.
Proceeds from the event were also donated to “Mind”, the mental health charity.

Tasha Styles will be the salon’s manager, with her friend, Zoe Walker, the owner; both previously worked together at “My Prerogative”, also in Colwyn Bay.
“It (opening event) was crazy; we couldn’t fit everybody inside. We weren’t expecting the volume of people who came, and we raised about £520 for Mind,” said Tasha, 30.
“I’ve been in this industry for about 15 years, and Zoe for about six. We’d been working together in another salon; and Zoe had always said she wanted her own eventually.
“We just work really well together, and just have that energy that bounces off each other, and the same sense of humour. Our clients really thrive off that.”
Strands N Hands will be open from 9am to 6pm from Monday to Thursday, and 8am until 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Prizes at Saturday’s opening event included a three-night hot tub stay from Thornley Leisure Parks..
Tasha added: “It’s her baby, but my ‘stepbaby’; I love it just as much!
“We were at My Prerogative together, who were fabulous. I don’t want the responsibility of my own place, but I like to be a boss – just not ‘the boss’!
“We do all things for hair – colours, cuts, extensions, wavy dreads; we do lashes, brows, nails, aesthetics, makeup, pedicures, manicures… pretty much everything that people go for.
“We've managed to build this salon in four weeks, which is just crazy.”
