A BRIDAL boutique business in Old Colwyn is celebrating after being named among the winners at the 2023 North Wales Wedding Awards.
“Bay Belle Brides” was the winner of the “wedding hero award” at this year’s ceremony, which was held on October 29 at Osborn Hall, Rydal Penrhos.
Sue Holt, who started the business as the UK came out of lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic, said she won this due to the comments that her brides made when voting for her, and for her community work.

She said: “My business is my passion, and my goal is to help every bride find their dream wedding dress, and to feel confident and beautiful in their wedding dress without breaking their budget.
“I have over 250 gowns starting at £50, and the most expensive gown is £649. All of my gowns are by designers/well known brands and I have a permanent 'sale rail' with between 40 and 80 gowns under £300.
“I run my boutique from home, so it's a safe place for all my brides, and I carry gowns in stock from size six to 30, and can order gowns up to size 44.”
Sue is originally from the North East of England., and served in the Royal Air Force for a decade, followed by 26 years in financial technology, moving to North Wales in 2009.
In May, she decided to run her boutique full-time, priding herself on “affordability, without skimping on quality”.
For every gown sold, she donates 10 per cent of the profits to Happy Faces Children's Charity.
Sue also accepts donated dresses, and can repair or clean them if needed, then re-sells them in her “sale rail”, with 100 per cent of the profits from those going to Happy Faces.
She was also a finalist in the Welsh Wedding Awards 2023, and for another category in the North Wales Wedding Awards; “best bridal boutique”.
