THE Old Colwyn War Memorial will have stood proudly in the village for 100 years this month.
To commemorate this event, there will be a PowerPoint presentation that tells the story of the Old Colwyn War Memorial and the servicemen whose names are inscribed upon it.
For many years, these servicemen were only known – by name – to close relatives, and to everyone else as just another D. Jones, E. Davies, M. Evans and J. Williams etc.
Extensive research over many years now allowed this event to finally “Tell Their Story”, recognising their individual sacrifice, where they lived, where they worked, what regiment they served with, how they died and where they are commemorated.
Their moving stories will be accompanied by the Colwyn Male Voice Choir, who also played at the inauguration of the memorial.
The event will take place at The Festival Church auditorium, Abergele Road, Old Colwyn, LL29 9YF. Saturday, November 11. Doors open at 2.30pm for a 3pm start.
The presentation is expected to last for one hour. Light refreshments will be served after the event.
There will be no charge for entry, but numbers will be limited and therefore preregistration is required.
Please email steveandnancybinks@gmail.com with the names of those who will be attending.
We look forward to seeing you on the 11th of November!
