A PUB in Conwy has been awarded a new one-out-of-five food hygiene rating, with an inspection saying “major” improvement is needed.
Y Gwydyr, at Caernarfon Road in Dolwyddelan, was given the score after assessment on July 5, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.
The pub’s management of food safety and hygienic food handling were rated ‘generally satisfactory’.

However, the business was seemingly let down by the cleanliness and condition of its facilities, which was rated ‘major improvement necessary’.
Y Gwydyr enjoys a good reputation, with a TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 based on 56 reviews, with the most recent from a month ago saying it was a “very friendly pub” with “great pub food”.
The pub was approached for comment.
