A PRIMARY school in Kinmel Bay is preparing to host an open day.

Ysgol y Foryd will open its doors to prospective parents and guardians for its 'Nursery September 2024 Open Evening'.

The event will run on October 10. Parents and guardians can drop in between 4pm and 6pm.

The school has recently been accredited with 'Trauma Informed Schools UK'. They received 'Excellent' in all five inspection areas during their latest Estyn report.

They also benefit from forest and beach school practitioners and were awarded the Eco Schools Platinum award.

They are also highlighting 'New Curriculum for Wales'.

Cllr Louise Formston, mayor of Towyn and Kinmel Bay, said: "Ysgol Y Foryd have worked so incredibly hard to nurture and support our future generation and this is apparent by the array of nominations and awards they have received.

"Visiting the school there is an atmosphere of an eagerness to learn and all of the children work hard to live their schools values, something very important to all of them.

"The head and all of her staff team are an asset to the school and I am incredibly proud to be able to be one of their governors and support them also as mayor."

The school also has limited spaces for current year groups (nursery - year two).

The forward thinking school caters for about 240 children from Kinmel Bay, Towyn, Rhyl , Abergele and surrounding areas.
