A PUB and hotel based in Conwy Valley is celebrating winning two awards ahead of starring on Channel 4’s “Four in a Bed” programme next week.
The Tal-y-Cafn, based on Llanrwst Road, will be competing on the show against the Greenhills Hotel in Tenby, Three Cliffs Bay Holiday Park in Swansea, and Cambrian House in Powys.
This follows The Tal-y-Cafn being crowned gastropub of the year, and winning the business resilience excellence prize, at the LUXLife Food and Drink Awards 2023.
A reality show which has been on air since 2010, Four in a Bed sees four different hotel owners visiting each other's establishments, before deciding which provides the best value for money.

Filming took place about a year-and-a-half ago, and largely features Dan and Lucy, The Tal-y-Cafn’s then-managers who have since moved on, representing the venue.
Current owner Mike Hales said: “It’s got to be one of the most popular programmes people watch. It was a great day, so it should be a good watch.
“Channel 4 just got in touch with us, and asked if we were interested – they filmed at the hotel for two days. I was there for the filming, which was quite intense!
“It’ll make good TV, and we’ve got a beautiful hotel and restaurant, so hopefully, the programme will showcase that.
“We went round the hotel for days beforehand cleaning and triple-checking everything. Dan’s a bit of a comedian!”
You can watch The Tal-y-Cafn compete on Four in a Bed every night at 6pm on Channel 4 from September 25-29.
Wednesday’s (September 27) episode will see the Conwy Valley establishment host its fellow competitors, before the winner is revealed on Friday’s show.
A Channel 4 spokesperson said: "This week marks a huge milestone in the world of Four in a Bed, as the long running series celebrates its 1000th episode!
"Four proud sets of holiday hosts battle to be named best value for money.
"The third visit of the week is to Tal-y-Cafn, in Tal-Y-Cafn, Conwy, run by chef Dan Latham and partner Lucy Lonsdale, who hope to cook up a storm for their guests.
"On arrival, Tom’s not pleased with his follicle findings, and Maxine and Tegan can’t dust off their cleanliness concerns.
"Over drinks, Dan tells the group he is confident he can bring home the bacon, but at breakfast the heat rises in the kitchen leaving more than just burnt egos."
On winning the two awards, Mike added: “It was good for the team to win them. We still have staffing issues here and there, but we’ve worked hard over the last three years.
“We’re battling through it.”
Mike purchased The Tal-y-Cafn and restored it to the community in 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Its food menu combines produce sourced from near and far, recipes developed by Mike, and an array of drinks championing some of North Wales’ finest brewers and distillers.
The site also boasts ensuite boutique rooms and a self-catering apartment available throughout the year.
