Alexandria, who used to look after Rhian Hastings's son [Rhian is the previous owner] when she worked as a registered childminder, said: "Both Jenny and myself felt ready for a change and when we heard that the business was for sale, we did not hesitate to put in an offer.

"What appealed to us about Coffee V, over other coffee shops, was the fact it was based in Craig-y-Don and that the customers are mainly people from the local community.

"We both loved the idea of being involved with this community. Even after just one week we experienced this sense of neighbourhood.

"Our intention is to provide a comfortable place for people to enjoy and spend time with friends, family and us."

When the sale was finalised, Alexandria and Jennifer felt both nerves and excitement.

Alexandria said: "It was nerves due to fact we were aware the locals already loved Coffee V and we certainly did not want to change that. We were excited to become part of this wonderful hub.

"Everybody we met during our first week was unbelievably friendly.

"Our first day was a very rainy one and it did not keep the customers away. The place was thriving. Everyone was patient with both of us.

"We have been so fortunate that some of the ladies who previously worked here have stayed with us so we have some familiar faces as well as our new ones.

"We are truly grateful to have the support of our customers and staff."

Alexandria added: "The business is already a successful one so we hope the changes we make will add to this success.

"We have started by opening later hours, this already seems to be appreciated by many. We plan on hosting some events in the very near future."
