A WOMAN has praised a veterinary clinic after her pet dog was injured on Penrhyn Bay beach, resulting in “a lot” of blood loss.
Sharon Formstone was walking her dog Ozzy along the beach on the morning of Saturday, 9 September when the dog suddenly cut his right leg, possibly on the pebbles.
“Ozzy cut his leg very badly and had to have surgery to close the awful wound and to stop the bleeding,” Sharon told the Pioneer.
After the injury, Sharon rushed Ozzy to Prospect House, a vets in Colwyn Bay, where he immediately went surgery.
She continued: “He was taken straight into surgery to stitch the gash closed as he was losing a lot of blood - vets told me that it was a very deep wound, and I was lucky it missed the tendons.

“It was also a very clean cut through his leg, so whatever it was must have been very sharp – imagine if that had happened to a child, I still feel sick thinking about it.”
Ms Formstone was full of praise for the vets, with whom she has been registered with for 18 years, saying she “can't fault their treatment of him.”
“They were fantastic with him, they saw him first and he was taken straight into theatre,” added Sharon.
“Thankfully I don't feed him until after his walks so that helped to get him treated as soon as possible.
“The staff were so lovely, can't fault their treatment of him.”
Ms Formstone did return to the beach to try to find what had caused the injury, to no avail.
