AN MS has described proposals to build 300 homes in Abergele as "crazy".
Countryside Partnerships said it wants to create a development with “attractive, active and lively streets” on either side of St George Road on the town’s southeast edge.
Darren Millar, MS for Clwyd West, is concerned that the town would not cope with such a large development and is calling for the proposals to be pulled until infrastructure improvements are made in the town.
He said: “The proposals for 300 more homes in Abergele is crazy. Local NHS services and schools are already overstretched and this will just make matters worse. We need infrastructure improvements before any large developments in the town.
“Whilst I appreciate the need for more homes in North Wales, it is vital that we consider the impact such a development would have on our already overstretched services. Our schools are at capacity and residents are already struggling to access local health services.
“These plans need to be pulled until all these issues are addressed and I will making representations to Conwy County Borough Council stating as such.”

The homes will be a mix of open market, affordable and private rental homes.
Countryside Partnerships is working with an affordable housing partner to increase the number of affordable housing on site to 61 per cent.
Each property will benefit from a "secure private rear garden" and will be two and two-and-a-half storeys in height.
