A COMMEMORATIVE fountain in Rhos-on-Sea that was lying in pieces has been reassembled, as part of the coastal defence work in the town.
The memorial fountain is dedicated to Rev W. Venables Williams, who served as the vicar of the parish of Llandrillo-yn-Rhos for 31 years in the late 19th century.
It was left lying in a “sorry state”, but has now been restored as the town undergoes a major renovation with the ongoing coastal defence and promenade project.

A Conwy County Borough spokesperson said: “We were pleased to be able to restore the memorial water fountain as part of the coastal defence project at Rhos-on-Sea.”
On social media, a spokesperson for the Colwyn Bay Heritage Group said: “On behalf of the Colwyn Bay Heritage Group we endorse the reinstatement of this important installation on the promenade.
“This has followed discussions with CCBC over the importance of retaining the heritage of the area including the Rhos on Sea Heritage marker posts which hopefully will be reinstated soon.
