Colwyn Bay café re-opens just 13 days after ‘devastating’ vandalism
Prosecuting, Jim Neary told the court that, at about 9pm on January 19, Flynn crashed the Volkswagen vehicle she was driving into Station View Café on Sea View Road.
She had reversed at speed through the front of the café, causing criminal damage to the premises.
Flynn then drove away from location, but the registration number of the Volkswagen was easily identified from closed circuit television (CCTV) footage obtained by police.
Police later found and arrested Flynn at an address in Abergele.
When interviewed by officers, she gave no comment, other than to deny being the driver of the vehicle in question at the time.
But police were later able to obtain CCTV footage from inside nearby shops, which were able to identify Flynn as the driver.
A “loud bang” could be heard when the vehicle crashed into the café, Mr Neary said.
Flynn also appeared to speak to two people nearby, who “didn’t appear too concerned about what happened”.
The café was closed for just shy of two weeks, while its owner said losses as a result of the incident totalled £8,281.19.
Magistrates disqualified Flynn from driving for 12 months.
She will also complete 50 hours’ unpaid work, and 20 days’ rehabilitation activity requirements.
Flynn will pay court costs of £85, and a victim surcharge of £114.
