A GROUP of “breast friends” are have created a 2024 nude calendar featuring each of them to raise money for the North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre at Glan Clwyd Hospital, Bodelwyddan.
The group comprises women based across North Wales who have previously been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Its members were brought together by Sally Smart, of Blue Bug Photography and secretary of Prestatyn Business Forum, after she reached out on social media to people who, like her, had received a breast cancer diagnosis.
Sally was diagnosed with breast cancer at the start of 2022, before completing her course of chemotherapy later that year.

Last October, the group also held a charity day in Prestatyn, which raised more than £8,000 for the North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre.
Before her diagnosis, Sally had photographed two nude calendars for an environmental project in Prestatyn.
Sally said: “I have made three naked calendars for various charities and projects, but this one is the biggest by far!
“This journey (cancer) has affected us all; some of us have had lumpectomies, and some of us have had full mastectomies.
“The ladies walked into my home for the first shoot very apprehensive, but all walked out a foot taller and more confident than they have felt in years, with new lifelong friends.
“If nothing more, it has been worth it for these gorgeous ladies to feel confident about their scarred and battered bodies again.”
The group are selling individual dates on the calendar at £10 per date.
These dates can have either a heart, a balloon, a bell, or a coloured ribbon, to signify a type of cancer battled or fought.
In addition, they are selling advertising space on the calendar, the cut-off point for which is the end of August.
Sally added: “Things are moving so quickly with the amazing ‘breast friends’; we are anticipating great success.
“These women are so incredibly brave, as they are not spring chickens and have some pretty serious battle scars.
“Getting naked has been a huge thing for them.”
