WORK to upgrade tennis courts in Conwy has been delayed.
The tennis courts in Bodlondeb Park are being resurfaced. New posts and nets will also be installed.
Work was scheduled to start the week commencing June 19 and was expected to last about five weeks.
Many readers voiced their anger at the time that the courts were closed off to the public during Wimbledon [which took place between June 26 and July 16].
Now residents have aired their frustrations about the work not being completed and the lack of work taking place on site.
A concerned resident, who asked not to be made, told the Pioneer: "The tennis courts were closed the week Wimbledon started. This was great timing for one, and works planned for a five week duration.
"After some minor preparatory works, work has completely stopped and show no sign of restarting. We are now past the five week program and just wondering if the council plan to finish these before the end of the summer holidays?
"It would be nice to be able to walk out for a local game of tennis and an ice cream during the summer holidays but alas, that doesn’t seem to be the case."
Residents also took to Facebook to share their annoyance.
One person wrote on public group You Know You Are From Llandudno: "It is sad to see families having to knock a tennis ball around on the field right next to a locked tennis court.
"I though fitness and exercise was a priority for councils and the government to ease the burden on health services.
"Conwy have now closed tennis courts and paddling pools and are rumoured to be ditching Bodlondeb altogether."

Another person wrote: "Seen no one working on them for weeks just the first week they started, that's it."
A spokesperson from Conwy County Borough Council said: "The court has been prepared with drainage holes and the reconstructed areas. The poor weather over the last few weeks has delayed surfacing work, but we are expecting the resurfacing contractors on site next week, weather permitting.
"The new surface will need time to harden, and then contractors can return to paint and finalise the work."
