A POPULAR ice cream parlour in Llandudno has been named one of the 10 tastiest shops by the sea.

Parisella’s Cafeteria, on Happy Valley Road, placed in The Times' top 10 ‘tastiest ice-cream shops by the sea’.

The Times said of the business: “In operation for seven decades, the family-run Parisella’s has a few parlours across North Wales.

“Its Llandudno café arguably affords the best vistas — the Irish Sea is straight ahead, punctuated by a Victorian pier jutting out into the water.

“The beach is close by, and is even better with a scoop of chocolate or rum and raisin.”

A spokesperson for Parisella’s said: “We were delighted to hear about the award and also proud to bring Happy Valley into the spotlight.

“It's a beautiful, tranquil piece of the town with world class views.

“We have operated the cafe since 1973 and being included on this list has come as a welcome surprise.”

The family-owned business, which also operates in Colwyn Bay, Conwy and Llanrwst, traces it history back to 1952 when Italian Domenico Parisella opened the Continental Ice Cream Parlour in Lancaster Square, Conwy.

It recently took over the popular Horizon Shine kiosk in Colwyn Bay, after defeating 63 other potential suitors to take over the lease.
