A CROCHET exhibition and auction raised an impressive £750 for charity.

Aliscrafts in Penmaenmawr held an exhibition of crocheted animals, 'sea beasties', clothes and blankets to raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease research.

Money raised, thanks to the generosity of the visitors and customers, will be donated to the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Allison Watson, shop owner, said: "I lost my mother-in-law to Motor Neurone Disease so I know what a dreadful illness it is.”

Together with some of the crocheters from the weekly groups that Allison holds at the shop, she decided to raise funds by organising the exhibition.

Visitors encountered a life-size crocheted sheep called Enfys (Rainbow), a Welsh Dragon named Bryn and a larger than life Puffin whose new owner has called him Norman.

“I wanted to show that crocheting is fun and can be used to create all kinds of things, not just blankets," said Allison.

“Creating Enfys the sheep was not just about the group crocheting granny squares but also about using them in a 3D way to create the shape of the sheep over the wire frame.

"We had a lot of fun making her."
