A MAYOR has been banned from using a Llandudno-based taxi company after allegedly treating staff with "hostility”.

Cllr Greg Robbins, who was sworn in as mayor for 2023-24 in May, ordered a taxi with Premier Cars Llandudno on Sunday evening (July 23).

But due to adverse weather and traffic caused by the Rag 'n' Bone Man concert at Eirias Park in Colwyn Bay, Cllr Robbins's taxi was set to be 20 minutes late.

Premier Cars contacted the mayor to inform him of the delay and to apologise.

As a "result of his actions", the firm cancelled the taxi, and Cllr Robbins has been banned from using their cabs in future.

A spokesperson for Premier Cars said: “Premier Cars Llandudno will not tolerate any forms of hostility towards our operators, who come to work to do the best job they possibly can.

“The delay in Cllr Robbins’ taxi was, unfortunately, caused by the traffic build-up at Eirias Park, which nobody expected.

“Our dispatcher was simply calling to update the customer and offer our apology. This was on Sunday night and, as a result of his actions, we cancelled the taxi.

“Cllr Robbins will not be permitted to use our services knowingly, i.e. if he calls (from) his number, he will show up as a banned customer.

“We were totally wrong; we should never be late. Unfortunately, it was beyond our control. We accept our service wasn’t what was expected, and we were attempting to make it right.”

Both Cllr Robbins and Llandudno Town Council were approached for comment.

Cllr Robbins has been a member of Llandudno Town Council for 15 years.
