A MUCH-loved zoo is currently hiring volunteers to take photos and help in their lemur walkthrough.
The Welsh Mountain Zoo in Colwyn Bay has more than 30 volunteers who work across five departments including marketing [which involves photography and videography], education [based on public engagement and formal education such as school workshops], gardening, animal walk-throughs and animal keepers which broadly includes care across all sections of the zoo.
The attraction is now looking for volunteers for the summer season.
A variety of roles are on offer but the charity is especially seeking those interested in an public engagement or animal-walkthrough role.
Alexandra Davies, education manager at the zoo, said: “Volunteers are hugely important to the Welsh Mountain Zoo. We welcome people from all backgrounds, with a passion for wildlife, to help us achieve our vital conservation mission. Through their dedication and support, the zoo continues to thrive and inspire our visitors to care and conserve our natural world.
“We are looking for seasonal volunteers, but if they enjoy their role, they are welcome to stay on and continue volunteering with us.
"We’re really keen to engage with volunteers interested in the public engagement and animal-walkthrough role.
"This will include interacting with our guests, sharing their passion and knowledge about the animals, hosting pop-up artefacts stations and assisting in our lemur walkthrough.

All volunteers will receive inhouse training during their induction and training opportunities throughout their time with us.
The zoo typically asks volunteers to dedicate a couple of hours up to a full day, ideally once a week with flexible hours.
