THE OWNERS of a pub near Colwyn Bay are “overwhelmed” to have been named Gastro Pub of the Year at a national food awards ceremony.
The White Lion Inn, in Llanelian near Colwyn Bay, was among the finalists for the ‘Gastro Pub of the Year North’ at the Food Awards Wales.
Despite fierce competition, the pub claimed the title at a ceremony in Cardiff.
Simon and Nina Cole, the owners of The White Lion Inn, said: “We are overwhelmed to have won this award.
“We are grateful to all our customers for their support and our team for all their hard work.
“The award is an amazing recognition after the hard times that we have all had to face over the last few years.”
A Spokesperson for The Food Awards Wales 2023 said: “We received an overwhelming response from the public, who nominated some fantastic establishments across the region.

“These awards are a testament to the passion and dedication of the country’s food industry, and the hard work of those who provide exceptional culinary experiences to their customers.
