Llandudno’s Elm Tree hotel named one of UK’s ‘best of the best’

The Elm Tree, on North Parade, was named seventh in the ‘Best Small Hotel’ category as part of the Awards’ ‘Best of the Best’ listing, making it the number one small hotel in the town.

Each hotel was selected based on its standards having passed the reviewing platform’s "rigorous trust and safety standards".

The seventh-place finish is a move up from eighth in the same category last year, marking steady progress for a hotel that was forced to shut for 14 months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Owner Lynette Esposito does not take the award for granted, and the hard work taken to achieve it.

“As a small hotel, reputation is everything and I’m so proud and pleased that The Elm Tree has been able to maintain its performance amidst stiff competition across the UK,” she told the Pioneer.

“The past few years following Covid and now the economic crisis have been really challenging but what has remained consistent are my outstanding team and loyal guests!

“I’ve never to take either for granted.

“As a seasoned hotelier, I believe crucial to the continued success of my business, is consistent attention to detail and a genuine approach to delivering hospitality.

“The Elm Tree is probably one of the few properties that do not rely on third party business referrals e.g. booking.com, Expedia etc., and this is a very specific strategy which I think offers us a competitive advantage – it allows you to engage with guests prior to arrival and to therefore anticipate what their expectation may be.

“It’s also surprising just how many people still prefer direct booking and a more personal approach.”

Another Llandudno hotel, The Tynedale, placed at number 10 on the list of the best hotels in the UK as part of the same awards.
