A NEW group of volunteers has been formed to help return the centre of Llandudno back to its former glory.
“Friends of Mostyn Street” has been set up by residents and business owners working together to enhance the streetscape of Llandudno’s town centre and make it an even more welcoming place.
With the strong support of many businesses, the group is determined to give some sparkle back to the town and ensure it’s at its best for years to come.

The objectives of the group are to improve the street scene, increase revenues, and create a community.
It held its first public meeting in late April at Llandudno Town Hall, when about 50 people came to share their suggestions about how the centre of Llandudno could be improved.

This ranged from general weeding and repainting of railings and street furniture, to larger-scale hopes for the future, such as funding the restoration of the original feature Victorian lampposts and refurbishment of the verandas and shopfronts along the streets.
Since then, volunteers have met twice on a Wednesday for an evening of action, with up to 15 people donning tabards and gloves to clean each corner of the Carlton roundabout at the top of Mostyn Street.
The work was appreciated by passers-by, as well as the management of the new Ormo Lounge bar, who provided the group with hot drinks as a gesture of thanks and goodwill.
The aim is to focus on a specific area of Mostyn Street and the shopping streets adjacent to it each Wednesday during the summer.
Examples of streets in the area covered by the Friends of Mostyn Street include Gloddaeth Street, Lloyd Street, Madoc Street and Vaughan Street.
Gini Rivers, of Friends of Mostyn Street, said: “Like other members of the group, I want to see a clean and presentable shopping area that we can all be proud of.
“A little bit of elbow grease and commitment each week will make the difference, banish the weeds, and remind us how lucky we are to live, work and visit Llandudno.
“Friends of Mostyn Street has brought together people keen to put words into action and upgrade Llandudno town centre.
“I would urge anyone who can spare an hour after work to join us and help ensure our town centre remains the jewel in the crown of the queen of Welsh resorts.”
Keep Wales Tidy has strongly supported the group from the start and is providing litter-picking equipment and expertise at every step.
Anyone wishing to join the group is welcome to contact mail@friendsofmostynstreet.co.uk for further information about the location of the working party.
Working parties will take place each Wednesday evening, 5.30-6.30pm.
