A PROMINENT wedding venue in the Conwy Valley is under new ownership.
Plas Maenan Country House, Llanrwst has been taken on by The Gilchrist Collection, a group which specialises in running wedding venues.
The new owners have also organised a luxury wedding show at the venue on June 11 from 12-4pm, to encourage couples looking to plan their special day to visit the site and meet the new team.
This will be run in collaboration with the Wrexham-based business, Elite Weddings & Events with Cara Roberts-Tilston.

Samantha Gilchrist, chief executive of The Gilchrist Collection, said: “Lured in by the breath-taking views surrounding Plas Maenan, the potential for this stunning venue made it an instant ‘yes’.
“The architecture wouldn’t look out of place lakeside in northern Italy. Its iconic white sweeping staircases framing the prototype for the dam are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to stunning wedding photo opportunities.
“I have a background in wedding photography, so I’m drawn to beautiful aesthetics, and Plas Maenan was different to any other venue in the collection.
“The tranquil terrace that wraps the front of the building, with floor to ceiling glass, gives guests panoramic views of the surrounding valley.”
Plas Maenan has also previously featured on Channel 4 programmes “Four in a Bed” and “Escape to the Manor Hotel”.
Late last year, it accommodated numerous couples who had been due to marry at the Hilton Garden Inn, Dolgarrog, prior to it being used to house asylum seekers.
The Gilchrist Collection also owns such venues as Danby Castle in North Yorkshire, Highfield Hall in Flintshire, and Highley Manor in West Sussex.

Samantha added: “Originally a five-star hotel, the venue has a warm and homely ambience, as if this elegant mansion could even be yours for the day.
“A perfect setting for an exclusive wedding, and a comfortable place to stay.
“As with the other venues in the Gilchrist Collection, we plan on adding our signature ‘getting ready room’ with great lighting, a full beauty station and kitchenette.
“Not only is this a make up artist’s dream; it’s the ideal space to prepare for an exciting day ahead with your friends and family.
“If you’ve not visited Plas Maenan before, we’d love to invite you for a tour. You will clearly see why we fell in love with this wonderful place.”
