COLWYN Bay singer-songwriter and producer, Finn Ambers, has arranged two “pop-up” music events in Llanfairfechan.

On the bill at Split Willow are urban folk virtuoso Kirk McElhinney on June 4; and acoustic blues, ragtime and slide guitarist and raconteur, Dave King on June 3.

Finn said: “I’ve been very fortunate to hear and meet many a great musician over the last couple of years.

“Kirk and Dave really are two of the highest-calibre artists and I wanted to do my bit to put them in front of a new audience and make it a special, ‘cosy’ event for the attendees.

“Any fan of acoustic guitar music will be entertained, impressed and will have a tale to tell about this night.”

A regular on the UK blues festival circuit, Dave performs tunes with a ragtime or bottleneck slide style.

He also makes guitars, and will probably be using one or two of his own at this gig.

Kirk McElhinney’s music involves folk fingerpicking, infused with flamenco licks in a contemporary frame.

Finn will also be performing some of his award-winning and new tunes.

He added: “My music is quite varied in terms of genre. I would say contemporary, blues, pop, jazz, country and folk all feature, all on acoustic or resonator guitar.

“For some songs, I use percussive taps on the guitar body and build live loops. On others, I’ll play some bottleneck slide.”

Finn released debut track “A Part Of Me” in May 2022, a ballad-duet which tells a tale of love, loss and hope for the future.

It was written, composed, arranged, mixed, mastered and produced by Finn himself.

Tickets can be bought for either £6 in advance, or £8 on the door, and can be purchased via links on Finn’s website or from eventbrite.co.uk.
