A SCHOOL had a very memorable day when they crowned their very own 'king and queen' as part of their Coronation celebrations.
On Friday, May 5, staff and children from Ysgol y Foryd made their way to Kinmel Bay Church for a special service led by Hannah Williams, acting headteacher.
During the service, 'King Bobby' and 'Queen Jessica' were crowned.
The 'royals' pledged to support Nicola Rowlands, headteacher [who is currently on Welsh sabbatical], Mrs Williams and the school council to "help keep children and adults safe in school" and to "follow the Y Foryd values."
Mrs Williams said: "At Kinmel Bay Church, children and staff learned all about the royal family. Special guests [for the event] including mayor Geoff Corry, Kate Evans from the local authority and ex-staff members. All were thrilled to be part of our special day.
"We wanted to make the day a special and memorable one for all our children so during the celebration, we crowned our very own King and Queen.
"Our very own Archbishop of Canterbury, Ameen, led the service with confidence.
"Our soldiers, Finlay and Reggie, protected the King and Queen and Sarayah, Izabella, Tahlia and Chanel carried the orb, sceptre, crowns and King Bobby’s train.
"After the crowning, we joined the crowds of people from the community to parade back to school.
"Ponnies Sparkle and Scruff, our friends, led the procession followed by Miss Puttick and the Y Foryd band who made sure everyone knew we were coming.
"The crowds waved and cheered as we paraded back to school to continue with our Coronation celebration parties," Mrs Williams added.
"It was a truly wonderful occasion for the local community and for our children at Ysgol y Foryd."
