A LLANDUDNO man has been recognised with an award for his service to the Royal Australian Air Force.
Dave Hughes, who went to school at Ysgol John Bright and whose family still live in the area, was the recipient of a Conspicuous Service Award in the 2023 Australia Day honours and awards.
This was for outstanding achievement in air traffic controller training for the Australian Defence Force.
Mr Hughes, a former cadet of 418 Squadron Llandudno, was honoured for his dedication to ensuring the best possible outcomes for air traffic control trainees and ensuring optimum capability for the Royal Australian Air Force.
Over many years, Dave has displayed ‘remarkable’ insight in modernising the full spectrum of the air traffic control training system, and his family back in Llandudno and Colwyn Bay said they are “extremely proud of his achievements”.
