A PUBLIC consultation period is underway amid plans to turn the West Shore Social Club site into residential units.
The pre-application plan would see the vacant Bryniau Road site demolition of the property for the construction of 12 residential buildings with associated access, internal access road and landscape works.
The social club, which has asbestos on the site, would be knocked down to make room for “modern and innovative” one and two bedroom apartments, in an effort to “provide a sustainable solution to the need for modern apartment living in Llandudno.”
Replanting is also part of the proposal, seeking to increase biodiversity in the region with the creation of a public space, while providing easier access and more parking for disabled people, pedestrians, cyclists, vehicles and emergency vehicles.
The site went on the market in October for a guide price of £300,000.
A mandatory 28-day public consultation is underway to gauge the views of residents and councillors, and will end on May 3, whereby feedback will be included in the final application to the council.
Regarding the demolition of the existing site, the proposal states: “The existing buildings on site have fallen into a state of disrepair and falls significantly short of modern standards.
“The chosen design approach therefore proposes a new build as this presents the best opportunity to deliver an exemplar scheme that makes efficient use of land whilst retaining the generous landscaping and providing much-needed dwellings.”
