STANLEY and Lottie is celebrating its first sixth months in Colwyn Bay.

Caroline Stanyer and Melanie Dentith-Aughton are behind the home and gift shop located on Penrhyn Road.

The friends, who both love to shop for their homes and love finding beautiful accessories that are a “little bit different”, turned their passion into a business during lockdown.

The business opened in July 2020 as an online venture only.

The shop followed in October 26, 2022 and the duo have not looked back since!

Caroline said: “We sell home accessories, greetings cards and gifts, a selection of which are made locally in North Wales.

“We spend a lot of time researching and sourcing products that are a little different, of good quality and are affordable.

“We believe that little luxuries, whether it be for yourself or a gift for a loved one, should be accessible to all.”

Collections made in North Wales include: Luxury soaps, hand fused glass, a selection of handmade fabric items including storage baskets, tea towels, aprons, reusable wash kits, seasonal decorative items, contemporary concrete candle holders and soap slopes. The shop also stocks a range of Welsh greetings cards and Welsh themed home accessories.

2023 sees Stanley and Lottie enter its third year.

The shop is named after Caroline and Melanie's two cockapoos; Caroline is mum to Stanley and Mel to Lottie.

Caroline said: “As friends, we both love to shop for our homes and love finding beautiful accessories that are a little bit different. During Lockdown we had the time to think, research and plan if we could turn our passion into a business.

“With hard work and lots of learning and determination our little business was formed.

“Some people said we were mad opening a shop at a time when more small businesses than ever were struggling but when is the right time? We had our vision, and we had a plan.

“We now just had to trust that we could make it work and our local community would support us and oh my goodness...they have!

“The community has given us amazing support and feedback and we are so grateful to be part of the amazing small business community in Colwyn Bay.

“Colwyn Bay is fast becoming known as a hub for small business and is becoming the place to visit for independent shopping and socialising.

“Opening a small business is not for the faint hearted, but we both feel very proud that two mums in their 40s took that leap.

“It has given us confidence, belief and the motivation to know that is you put your mind to it you can achieve it.”
