A LLANDUDNO hotel could soon have electric car charging facilities.
Applicant Lei Ma has applied to Conwy Council’s planning department, seeking permission to install solar-powered electric car chargers at the Llandudno Bay Hotel.
Mr Ma, of Liverpool-based company Ever Bright Inn Ltd, wants to install the electric car charging points within the hotel’s existing rear car park.

He also wants to include solar carports and roofing over a small yard at the hotel on East Parade on Llandudno’s promenade.
According to the application, the electric charging points would not generate extra jobs.
The applicant has also applied through a separate planning application to allow alterations to a listed building, as the Victorian hotel is a Grade II Listed building and is protected by Welsh heritage guardians CADW.

In the supporting information, Mr Ma provides evidence of “SMBB Technology”, which, the company claims, provides better solar light trapping and improves module power output and reliability.
The solar power company also says that the charging has “PID resistance, high power output, Hot 2.0 technology, and enhanced mechanical load”.

According to other supporting information the charging system is intended for either public or semi-public areas.
But the company behind the technology warns that charging points could endanger life if maintenance work is not carried out by a qualified electrician.
Neighbour Min Bissett complained that work on the electric charging points had already started and had caused a mess at her property on Victoria Street.
“Since the work has already started, the sand and rubble keeps blowing into my yard and causing me issues,” she said.
“This is a regular occurrence, and I often have to complain.”
The Llandudno Bay Hotel is a four-star hotel that specialises in accommodation, weddings, conferences, and dining.
According to its website, the hotel offers cocktails, charming furniture, and irresistible views. The hotel website also states a spa is coming soon.
