TWO friends are set to take on five marathons back-to-back in a continuous run from Manchester to the Gwynedd coast.
‘Fitness freaks’ Dominic Hughes and Mitchell Berry will be completing the equivalent of five marathons when they run from the Marriott Hotel in Manchester to Abersoch, Gwynedd on April 2.
They will do so without any breaks or rest, will be eating and drinking as they run, and are aiming to complete the task in around 35-40 hours.
“We’re running five marathons non-stop without any rest, any break, from Manchester to Abersoch,” said Dominic.

“We have a place down in Abersoch ourselves so it just always seemed right to use that as a location. I’ve been brought up in Abersoch as a child and we absolutely adore the place.
“We’re massive fitness freaks, and thought, what can we do in terms of stepping up and setting a standard and pushing ourselves to breaking point.”
The duo are raising money on behalf of the Manchester-based The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, and Mind.
The Christie Foundation manages the Christie Hospital, the largest single site cancer centre in Europe and which treats more than 60,000 patients a year.
Mind is a mental health charity that offers information and advice to people with mental health problems, and both charities have played a big role in the runners’ lives.

Dominic said: “I’ve worked with the Christie Foundation for years, I’ve known friends and family who have had issues with cancer and lost loved ones - it only seemed right to support those guys.
“My friend Mitch, who’s my teammate on the day, has struggled a little bit with mental illness over the past four or five years, with anxiety and things like that.
“He’s doing it for Mind, to create some awareness for them.”
The pair are being sponsored by Focus Activewear and M&A Brown Signs on their endeavour, and will be joined by a support van with food, drinks and supplies.
Dominic added: “Something like this very rarely gets attempted and completed - it will be quite a challenge.”
