COLWYN Bay will be loud and proud when it hosts its very first Pride event.
The event, organised by Together for Colwyn Bay, the organisation behind events such as the Big Picnic [returning to St Paul’s Church this summer], will land in the town on Sunday, May 14.
Colwyn Bay Pride will be a celebration of the town’s and North Wales' LGBTQ+ community.
It is set to be a "welcoming and fun day" for everyone.
The event will be feature three stages, a catwalk, fashion shows, entertainment, community information, stalls, artists, food vendors, family friendly activities and a fun fair.
Kai Davies, Together for Colwyn Bay’s Event Director, said: “We are delighted to give Colwyn Bay its very first Pride event. Colwyn Bay Pride will be an inclusive event for all to celebrate our town’s diverse community - and that of North Wales as a whole.
"Pride is a celebration that has its roots in protest, and it is an opportunity to highlight the injustice the LGBTQ+ community continues to face here, in the UK, and elsewhere around the world
“Pride is a celebration, but first and foremost it is a protest, an opportunity to highlight the injustice and discrimination the LGBTQ+ community continues to face here, in the UK, and elsewhere around the world.
"Colwyn Bay Pride will be an inclusive event for all to celebrate our town’s diverse community – we want people to have fun and celebrate but also not to forget the meaning behind Pride.”
The Together for Colwyn Bay team is looking for volunteers for the event and urge anyone interested to get in touch.
“Residents, whether or not they are from the LGBTQ+ community, will be able to get involved in Colwyn Bay Pride," said Kai.
"We are looking for volunteers, stall holders, entertainers as well as sponsors.
“The support we have received so far has been amazing and we are really grateful to everyone who has come on board. We have a range of opportunities and sponsorship packaged available on the Colwyn Bay Pride web page.”

Colwyn Bay Pride will take place on the promenade, between Porth Eirias and the Horizon Shine cafe.
