A GOLF course in Conwy has been named in the top five courses in Wales, by a popular golf magazine.
Conwy Golf Club, a links course located on Beacons Way, Conwy, was formally established at Conwy Guildhall on 30 June 1890 but dates back to around 1869, when a nine-hole course was set out by three Scottish gentlemen.
The course recently hosted the 2021 Curtis Cup, a well-known team trophy for women amateur golfers, and a stepping stone for many of the female game’s stars.

The club was ranked fifth in a list of the best courses in Wales by magazine Today’s Golfer, behind Royal Porthcawl, Royal St David’s, Pennard, and Aberdovey.
The magazine rates the course as follows: “An open links for 12 holes, Conwy tightens for the last six with lots of gorse in play.
“It has a wonderful setting as it wraps around the bay with mountains on the other side and it constantly challenges the golfer through numerous direction changes.
“Played host to the Curtis Cup in 2021 and recent improvements have nudged it up into the top five best golf courses in Wales.”
The next-highest North Wales course on the list is Bull Bay in Amlwch, Anglesey, ranked 12th.
